Contact the tech support for your laptop manufacturer and see what the best way to do that would be ;)

When you say Boot Disk, are you referring to the Restore/Recovery Disc? (ie the disc that contains the operating system on it, in case Visa needs to be reinstalled)
What brand is the computer? Most manufactures do not include the recovery discs anymore, as most new laptops have a recovery partition and they have a recovery disc creation wizard that lets you make them yourself.

As far as I know, all the manufacturers here include a recovery disk for Vista. Just not the installation disc. So just contact the dealer and ask for it.

Hmm, my sister has just brough a new Acer laptop, and that comes with an OEM Vista Operating system disk that has the recovery/ restore built in?
I would check through everything and contact the shop where you got your lappy from. I believe they have to supply you with an Windows disk by law.

Most laptop companies don't bother with recovery discs anymore, they all use recovery partitions that can be accessed with key combinations upon boot.
Here (in the US at least) most do not come with the restore discs anymore. There are only a few systems that do include them.
All Toshiba laptops do come with them, Gateway includes an OEM Vista DVD, but the drivers and applications DVD needs to be made by the user (taken from the second partition), and the same goes for E-Machines, they include the OS disc, but the drives and apps one needs to be made.
Acer does not include the discs, but this can be made using the Acer eRecovery option (burns it to 2 DVDs), HP does not include them (can be made through the HP Recovery Disc Creation Wizard on 2 DVDs)

Ditto - my old Acer come with all its recovery discs and what not - thats about 3 years old... This one im using now is only 2 months old or so and didnt come with anything.
Think it depends on location, etc.
im still trying to work out how to get rid of Vista off this thing lol - its not my cup of tea

My old computer from 2001 didn't have nothing either just a stupid recovery disk to recover the data from a partition
I only used it one time to recover the data then time later I deleted the recovery partittion and preinstalled windows and put my own I strongly dislike preinstalled software
One time I just booted it to see what happens and said that I didn't have a Compaq Computer. I guess coz have changed several parts with the years

Partition Magic is the most friendly interface that helps with that
I used to use it when i had dual boot with Windows XP and Windows 98
But now I have dual boot with Linux and Vista so I didn't bothered using Partition magic anymore

That's an open-source partition editor that's pretty easy to use as well (plus, it's free) ;)

Yeah I know about gparted already I used like 2 or 3 days ago to resize my partitions
But i didn't mentioned it coz most people this forums seems to have something against open source software and only like nice and userfriendly interfaces
