note: SATA drive not found in XP setup or recovery console. I don't know how the other technician did it but he got fired anyway.

OK. So, here's my problem. Computer came into work (Dell XPS 600) that was bluescreening the instant windows started to load. Couldn't stop it to see what the error code actually was.
So the other technician was scratching his head on it because nothing would show up when he did a repair install. (he did... somehow).
The old windows directory was renamed Windows.1 while the new, good install was named Windows.
It booted up fine after that and went home with the customer. Now, about 2 days later, the same problem started happening so the computer came back in for ME to fix. (I'm the last bench tech)
Again, nothing showing up in Windows Setup. I went to go to safe mode to see if that would load and I see it's all pointing to the windows.1 directory.. the old screwed up one.
How can I possibly direct the boot loader to point to the proper windows directory?

Remember, Recovery Console doesn't see the drive either so fixmbr or fixboot doesn't work.

any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks for the help..
I couldn't find the SATA drivers after 30 minutes of googling..
thankfully the other technician (who's always on the road) showed up who happened to have SATA drivers on a CD..
all in all, it's not my problem anymore and I won't be taking resposibility for lost data..

again, thanks for the help and quick replies though
