keeps connecting

i have a windows xp home edition and it keeps connecting to the internet even when the phone line is not in it keeps trying until you plug it in and it connects does any one know what to do to fix it because my parents are on my back telling me to pay to fix it and im out.

1. Try taking off the 'Windows update' & remove all of your connections to the phone jack.

2. Go into the control panel and select 'Internet Options', click on the tab 'Connections' and click in the "Never dail-up a connection" and apply

are you on a network? if so, another computer might be forcing yours to dial-up

on the properties page of the conection that dialing, click on the "sharing" tab and uncheck "dial on demand"

yep it turns out that the windows xp keeped trying upgrade itself and when i turned the outo update off it stoped trying to connect
