No-CD backup for Gothic III 1.12

I've just bought Gothic III, and updated it to v.1.12

So far i've played it with the CD; great game!

But i want to play it without the CD; both so that i dont need to put the CD in all the time and for the CD's protection.
But the only NO-CD crack for Gothic 1.12 is by Razor1911 and its infected by a virus. I've downloaded it from three diffrent locations; including megagames, and every time i get a warning from AVG anti-virus that the exe file in it is a trojan.

Where can i find a good version of this No-CD crack? :graysigh:

Scan the file with severals avs to see if in still reports the file infected

Works fine. It's the one that I use. After patching to the v1.12, search for the v1.41 community patch. Solves lots of the bugs related to quests.. Doesn't alter the executable and makes the game a lot less frustrating(the patch link can be found in the official Gothic3 forum and is a sticky so you can't miss it). Piranha Bytes and Phenomic(previously working for Jowood) were bought last year by EA, so the support for Gothic 3 and Spellforce 2 addon was stopped).

OK, i managed (FINALLY!!!) to unzip the whole folder into the program files (3 files overwritten)

Now when i run Gothic3.exe it tells me i dont have permission to start the file -.-

So i am betting my PC tagged the file as dangerous somehow. I'm on Windows Vista. I am an administrator, and i disabled UAC. How can i run the file and start my game?

Does AVG still detect the crack as virus? Or you tried another crack that is not detected as that?

Coz if the the problem if the fist question sometimes AVG block access the files that consider virus and corrupt them even when you disable it from the tray . if that case re download the crack again but wth AVG turned off from the background this time

WDF! I restarted the computer, and now all the Gothic3.exe files i had copied around r deleted. i cant find them any where. I've searched. DAMN ++++IN avg. Gotta go through this ++++ again. I chose "Ignore" like 100 million times before it finally let me copy the damn thing. Now i gotta download it again. Do you guys know how to turn AVG off? Because it damn sure doesnt give me the option from the control center. I've stopped the process tree from the task manager, but AVG is still very active; giving me updates and all.

I copied all the files into the folder (i used cmd to move the exe bacause windows wouldnt let me), i ran the exe as administrator and it still doesnt friggin work!

Try booting into safe mode and copy/paste the cracked .exe file into your game directory. In safe mode, your A/V software should not be running, so you shouldn't have an issue.

After that, reboot normally, turn UAC back on, and try the "Run as Administrator" approach again.
