I have two identical 150 gig raptor HD's set up using sata to connect to the M/B.

One is on sata #1-2 and the other on 5-6 just to make sure they were separate (long story).

Dos detects both, but when I go to my computer it reads 1 C drive the size of only one of the drives. Hardware manager shows both. Whats the deal?

Has it been formatted?

That's it.

How can I format the drive without going through windows set up? Any BIOS commands, or command prompt controls that would do it? Normally I'd go to my computer, right click the drive and format... but the drive isnt there.

How about Windows' system management?

Control panel - administration - then something with disc in the left menu (i use a non-english OS, so i don't know what it's called in english)

If it's working, then it should be there.

Right click on "My Computer" and click "Manage", in there should be a "Disk Management" under the "Storage" drop down list.

Click on that and you should see your two drives, one is your main and the other is unformatted.

Right click the unformatted drive in the lower part where it lists the drives as "Disk 0", "Disk 1" etc. Select "Mark Partition As Active", then right click it again and click "Format", follow the wizard (its pretty straight forward), once it finishes Windows should be able to see it as a useable drive. :)

The formatting wizard does that anyway, the only "problem" will be the driver lettering will be out of order.

D: will be his CD drive and presumably E: will be his newly formatted drive.

As sham said, it can be changed in the Disk Management.
