Are you using a no-cd fix of any kind? If so, replace any crack with the original game file before going through the update process ;)

I use the internet to update my sims 2 game but it didn't went well, there's an error still saying that update failure. But I already solve my problem. What I did was, when installing sims 2 open for business expansion pack it reached where it says open for business is going to check for sims 2 updates I just log off my computer without clicking ok or the "X" button to close the window. I log on once again and click on start buton and go to all programs and saw there that it was successfully installed without undergoing the update process. Now I just searched for a patch to replace the exe file found on the TSBIN open for business folder and replace it so I can play it without the cd. Take not that if your going to use curerom and create a profile for this there is a big possibility that your computer would crash, just search the net for a no cd fix without using curerom or daemon tools to be safe. thanks guys

Was your game usin a no cd crck when you told it to install the expantion??

If so. that was probably the problem..

if you use no cd crack's ALWAYS, copy the origional exe 1st and paste it into a folder in the game directory.
(i usualy name the folder Origional)

updates check the games exe, and its size and if they dont match, then the update gets confused and dosent know which version of the game its trying to update..
(reason being they never released the cracked version)

so the general rules are..

1: install your game.
2: copy/cut origional game exe (and any other files the crack will replace.) then make a new folder where the origional exe lives. and paste them in to there.
4: download a no cd crack, and extract it if needed.
3: paste your crack where the origional exe used to live
5: play your game..

Time to update / install expantion..

1: go to the folder where you pasted the origional files.
2: cut the origional files.
3: Pase the origional files back in the game directory and replace the cracked files.
4: update / install expantion.
5: Go back to game directory, Cut the new game exe (and files if needed) that the update/expantion installed.
6: Paste those exe in to the folder here you keep origional game files.
7: download your no cd crack for that version.
8: extract the no cd crack and pate it in the game directory.

and thats it..
it probably looks like a lot more work than it really is..

But the morral of the story is.
KEEP YOUR ORIGIONAL GAME FILES SAFE. A NO CD CRACK CANNOT BE UPDATED.

bear in mind If i had the same game as you, I may be able to supply you with a cab file if you ask me really niceley becous yours are corupted on the cd.
"but do not ask me on this forum"
were not allowed to send origional game files to any one really
"i just dont see why not"

But I will never send you the origional game exe (cos some pirated games come without the origional game exe. where as if u have the cd, its on that, and its so small the chances of that being the only corupted file are minimal.
And if more than the origional exe is corrupted, then you should get a new cd..

Cab files are diferent in my eyes. Big huge bulky things. a small scratch prety much any where on a cd has "at a guess" atleast 70% chance of corrupting a .cab file
So that explains why id send you 1 and not the other :)

:) I have a major problem:I instaled sims2 and open for busines. So far so good, but when I open the game it tels me that the aplication has crashed!!!!!!!! WHAT CAN I DOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELP MEEEEEEEEEEE:rant:

The actual problem behind this is the order you install the add-on packs, EA are fully aware of it, they just haven't done anything about it.

The order EA want you to install the add-on packs is below (becuase they expect us all to buy and install every expansion in order).

Sims 2 (Obviously)
University
Nightlife
Open for Business
Pets
Seasons
Bon Voyage (When its released)
