Hi
I installed Vista Home Premium 3 weeks ago, WMP 11 played any avi file I have until last week then stopped: soundtrack ok, no picture. I have divx codec pack 6.6, double checked the avi's with gspot which say all necessary codecs are present.
Just to make sure I installed Klite codec pack: no change, wmp 11 plays the sound tracks but no video (black screen) without any error message or crash...still
For your info: Nero Show Time plays those files perfectly !
Any cue ?
Thks

Have you tried reinstalling WMP11 or the latest version of DviX?

I don't think wmp 11 in bundled in Vista can be re installed. maybe if were the wmp11 xp update but I don't think you can with the vista one
Is like if you try to completely remove IE7 and the re install it you can't without some obscure method like thte one that used to be for Win 98
yuu can make it with the later upgrade versions and return to the old one (but has to be one remaining) but not with the ones that came when when OS was first released is that way like WMP and IE has always worked for years other components of windows can be removed easy but not these two ones

it's the one delivered and installed with the Vista package, there's no possibility to re-install over as it is declared to be the latest version available, I don't believe in uninstalling it as it'll leave plenty of things in the regedit:gun2:

Try the DivX Player and see how it goes, if you have it I mean.

Tried it: it works, as Nero works, but why won't wmp11 play ?

Cause its still a lil buggy?
I dont have Vista or even WMP11 but a reinstall should help or looking about on www.microsoft.com (http://www.microsoft.com)
Is there any particular error that is given by WMP?
