Dead Pixels - Gameboy SP

The problem I've been having involves the screen on the Gameboy SP. The backlight works fine, but in the exact middle of the screen there is a vertical column of pixels that seems to be dead. Every game I play now has a white line dividing the screen into two halves.

I can't return or exchange this, and though it wouldn't be the end of the world if the problem can't be fixed that line is really annoying. How can I fix this problem?

The only thing I can think of besides purchasing another GBA, would be to try to find a replacement LCD (http://www.xboxrepairguide.com/gba-sp-replacement-lcd-p-771.html) for your current one and installing it ...
