What crap guru.

R*'s 'limits' refers to developing a game not knowing if every
X360 has an Hdd. It's static looking to get MS to pay more juice.
And MS will; if there are peeps out there who thought they could get
by without an Hdd, they will change their mind if GTAIV is Hdd supported only.

and even with a potential $100+ secondary purchase required(the Hdd duh)
R* will still sell more GTAIV for X360 than they will for the PS3!
The mention of the BR is negated once the HD-DVDX360's ship.
Considering the only console with a game needing an HD disk is the 360.
PS3's Resistance is still only a 6.12 GB game file. The FMV file is over 7 GB,
the disk contains over 11 GB's of fluff and padding-- total game file
size is a little over 17GB--not 22.
X360's game frpm Mistwalker is a 30 GB game
actual game file size undetermined.

Heck I'm not even sure if MS is even producing core units anymore.
I think the first and second production runs are going to be it.
From here on out your X360 will either have a 20 GB Hdd or a 120 GB Hdd.
The Elite has an HDMI port, so the HD-DVD is simply a matter of timing..

JAG...why is it that you think you know more than the people who actually make the games? I just don't understand that.

Where's that HD DVD-equipped 360 you're talking about? E3 sure hasn't revealed one. Even if there is one to come, are you saying that GTAIV for 360 will be on an HD DVD? Doesn't that mean that EVERYONE who bought a Core, Premium, or Elite 360 can't play it unless they buy the external HD DVD drive for $200? And even then, only the Elites will be able to output to HDMI, so you're paying for something you can't even use?

Please define "fluff and padding".

well, GTA is excellent on the computer anyway, I think people should use a computer instead of a console; A computer is a lot more useful.

In most cases I would agree with you but you just don't get that feeling of a party when your friends are crowded round ur monitor trying to play games like flatout on your PC. On a Playstation or any other console however you get a real 'party atmosphere that you can't get with PC games....and you can kick whoever just beat you in the head something sadly lacking from playing WoW ;)

GTA IV isn't going to be on PC, so this sucks anyway.

I don't know more than the developers, just more than you.

The article you are referring to didn't say that R* said the X360
was graphically weaker and incapable of handling GTA IV.
No, it was stated that the failure of MS to ship the X360 with an Hdd std
was the developers hang up. R* is apprehensive about developing
a game dependent on resources that the core X360 doesn't have.

Further, the Hdd's for the X360 are among the top selling accessories.
The heavy XBXLV MKTPLC traffic would indicate that a lot more people
have the Hdd's than not. Either that or some dumb schmoes are
using domino stacks of memory cards to store their XBXLV downloads.

Since MS has quit producing the core units, this complaint will get
less relevant the more time passes. All 360's have Hdd's now.

It was the lack of a standard Hdd that cost MS the Team Ninja group.
I was but one of a chorus to MS that told them not providing a standard Hdd
for the X360 was a tactical error that would cost them developer support.
The form letter response was that Hdd's would be available
to those that wanted them---they didn't get it or chose to believe otherwise.
Well they learned, better late than never.

HDMI is not the end all be all for HD connections.
Unless you got one hellava awesome TV; the difference between
component cables and HDMI is very, very minute.
I got 3 HD monitors
1 has component
1 has HDMI
1 has DVI VGA only

The images on all three are dazzling.

fluff and padding- the junk SCEA jams onto an BR-DVD in an effort
to distract you from realizing the gamefile itself would still fit on a DVD-9.

You are not going to get a quality 40 gig+ game for under $80 or $90.
They might sell you a $40-50 starter that amounts
to a sheep in wolves clothing: meaning the game will cost $40 or so,
but you'll spend another $40 or so unlocking and/or downloading
supplimental game files from SCEA or the developer themselves.

That I am aware of there is still no way to prevent a linux enabled PS3
from sharing any PS3 game with any number of other lxPS3 users
any number of times. In theory, you can upload all the current PS3 titles
into a shared folder. All lxPS3 users would just p2p the gamefiles they wanted.
FOR FREE

The full ramifications of this neat trick have yet to be seen because
almost no one owns a PS3 right now. But time is on the black hats side.
When the cost of this bug becomes big enough the effect will be fast.
Namely, 3rd party dev teams will drop the PS3 like a hot potato(e).
Nothing that Sony does won't a linux hacker un do.

As for the HD-360's; it was a Toshiba representative who let that cat out.
He stated openly that an HD-DVD equipped 360 was the natural and intended
goal of Toshiba's whole relationship with MS.
Toshiba sees the HD-DVD 360 as the counter to the BR PS3.
No date was given.
Myself, I'm not looking for one until this productions run
has not only been shipped but sold.
Hence not till next year.

You guys do know that the 360 version is now supposed to be better than the PS3 version, right? I will have to find the article, but there is supposed to be much more downloadable content for the 360 version, although I heard the other day that there still will be some downloadable content for the PS3 as well. The no PC guarantees sales for the consoles, and Microsoft is still happy because they would benefit from this either way.

You do know that you can host a LAN in Flatout right? Unless they didnt have that option the first, I know they did in the second one.

Is that tard lurking to see this?
http://www.aeropause.com/archives/2008/01/gta_iv_has_evolved_coming_apri.php

the only working demos were 360's

So I guess guruboobs title fully reads
360 limits GTA IV to only having 360 demos to show off: PS3 coming soon

on a side note:
SCE will be selling the GT5 'demo' for $40~ also it seems to be inferring
that additional dlc will be available for purchase from the PS store.
this is exactly what/how I said SCE would do this back last july,
not GT5 speciically, just their whole future marketing plan
same price point even tff
