MSN and Mirc bots...

Can someone plese explain to me what bots are and what they do? I dont understand,i know there used in Mirc and MSN but what for?

i would think this belongs in chit chat, but regardless i will answer the question

Bots are AI, or artifical Intelligence, sorta :) basicly they pick up on certian words and respond, MSN bots are closer to "true" AI because they can respond to almost anything. MIRc bots are simpley there to keep the chats clean :)

some bots for msn do special stuff like make your nickname glow...let u see people who blocked you....or you can leave an auto message on when you are away.....so have extra addons like anti laggers and stuff like that...different bots have different uses....i get mine from http://www.mess.be/

i met an extremely intelligent bot once, took me about 10 mins to work out for sure that it was a bot. i think this was on icq
