Xbox LIVE PROBLEMS!!!

Hey m8s! Haunukah is here, and I just got me self a brand new Xbox live! Oh boy, I am so excited! Oh no! Won't initialize connection? What the hell does that mean?

-Anyways, I have tried EVERYTHING to make a new gamer tag.. but my xbox will simply refuse to connect. I am running my net connection on a router that is built in the wall running wires throughout my intire house. I was told that crossover cables CANNOT be used to hook up to the xbox, but I have no idea if I have them or not, so SAY THAT I DO HAVE REGULAR RJ-45 CABLES, what do I have to do to make my xbox live work? I have forwarded the ports, checked that everything is plugged in, yet it says to "Check Cables". PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! :cussing:

Let's see. If it says "check the cables" I think I would ... check the cable! To connect the box to the router it should be a straight cable NOT a crossover. To make sure its straight hold the ends together and they should have the wires in the jacks in the SAME order.

Alright guys... I have checked my Router Compatability - it is compatible

My wires I dont know about - It is a special type of cable that I have wired THROUGH my house inside my walls - it is not something that I could change easily - if anyone knows of an adapter for crossover to straight it would be greatly appreciated thx :)

Ok here is my problem i have a Dlink Air Plus and it connects to my Airport so i can give that internet to the rest of my house BUT i want to connect my xbox but not wirelessly to that connection How would i go about this?

ok amen...first i'd tell you to try and hook up your Xbox STRAIGT to your cable or DSL modem. If your still having problems then, yeah call Xbox whoever because you might have gotten one with a bunk card in it. Lets not forget this IS a microsoft product and prone to random problems.
and Leefieber - why don't you run a cable? your wireless router should still have some hook ups on the back on the back unless your using them all. If you are just hook up a switch to one and then plug in all your other stuff....

It is not Haunukkah yet. This thread was started LAST YEAR and since then I have hooked it up wirelessly and solved all my problems :D

When i click on xbox live and on new account it say due to tecnical difficulties cant get on try again later, i have any ideas on how to help me ( PLEASE SAY THIS SITE IS BETTER THAN GAMESPOT)

XBX does frequent server maintenance; I've run into that prompt a few times
and I've been with since Beta testing.
I would say try again later.
If it persists contact XBXLV and see if your ISP isn't bugging things up.
I know old AOL wouldn't access XBXLV at one point,
I don't know if they fixed that or not.

I just remembered that I had trouble getting a LV subscription card to upgrade
my sons card to gold. I got that same not able to contact Live at the time.
If not for my account which was running fine I might have sat waiting
to see what gives. In which case I would get irate too.

I called XBX customer service and noted the problem
that my sons account said it couldn't access the Live servers.
This while my XBX could access the marketplace just by switching to my original profile/account.
This would show that my account could contact the server for whatever I wished.
But with my sons account being expired(treated like new), it claimed it couldn't.

It's a glitch not sure where/why/what; but the lovely XBX service rep
got everything squared away.

You will need a credit card for identification/age verification.
They won't charge it unless you tell them to.
I've had no trouble since 2002.

I know xbox live works on it because I have played it on my freinds account on my xbox. The only thing i can think of is that the card is for xbox 360 but they have stopped selling the normal ones.

Contact Microsoft help ... they deal with subscriptions

Does the card say XBOX360 anywhere on it? Or the word 'GOLD'? If not, then you should have the correct one.

I dont think anywhere will give you a refund if you bought the wrong card, so contacting MS like Dip says is your best bet.
