Right I am currently with tiscali as my ISP.
Ive a package that includes cheaper calls, TiscaliMAX with Anytime calls.
I have no problems downloading files from the internet however i use the odd peer to peer software like most people do.
The traffic shaping they now use means that last week when i went to download a few linux distros for the first time on utorrent i got nothing better than 30kbs all weekend, night or day and yes i did stop during the peak hours.
Im looking an isp with a service that is unlimited as i would reach 100 gig a motnh with the pcs i update and the 3 i maintain at home as well as gaming and steam :p
I NEED one without that stupid traffic shaping, i respect the fair usage policy and never download a large file during times of 5pm to 11pm weekdays and 4 to 12 weekends but im paying tiscali for pretty much slightly better than diallup speeds right now.
Can anyone recommend an isp that doesn have traffic shaping and offers unlimited usage?
I can support to 8meg over my BT phone line, usually about 4 odd. I woulndt mind a 2 meg service if it was unlimited but would prefer 8 if i could get it.
They are pissing me off so much...i had to resubmit this post twice bfore it worked and that was WITHOUT any downloads going.
P.S. Their tech support i have called so much yet nothing changes, crap isp with crap tech support :(
Please hepl!!!

Thats is what I had against Tiscali when I was considering going with them a while back, good price, but bugger all support or anything.
Hmmm, I dunno what ISP's are doing good deals ATM, i'm waiting for Sky Broadband to get enabled in my area, that way I get it free. :)

Yeah, i've heard about Demon, they are supposed to be good, so yeah checking them out would be a good idea.
Also have a look @ Eclipse Internet (http://www.eclipse.net.uk/), i've also heard good things about them too.

Was checking them but they enforce restriction on high users and as I can sometimes top 100 gig that could mean me, the call centre was closed so ill ring them tomorrow for confirmation.
Can you recommend any other ISP's Random?
I would need one good for gaming too come to think of it if I didnt already mention that.

I would have said Bulldog up until recently, Bulldog are esentially Cable & Wireless, and C&B have a "history". ;)
I was going to suggest AOL, but they only do speeds up to 1Meg, thats how they justify their unlimited download for the price they offer. :)
Edit: Now, i've just found out Bulldog, are now owned by Pipex, and Pipex are good. :)

Yeah some ISP are crap don't do what they promise. I have a 512k cable connection some months ago I was having problems one sunday most omy downloads was at less than 10kpks at the beginning I thought was the server but on any download i triedI feels like in 56k crap iI cheked my bandwith and was in less 124 Kbpds I called my ISP and have a fight with some of their employes after some hours the service got back to nomal. The problem with my city is tht is like a town there is not to much high speed ISP to choose for most are 56k bull there is only two Telmex and Cablevision I choose Cablevison because some of the politcs and payment for Telmes are abit probelmatic and for the Linux distors I suggest downloaded from every distro official project page in their mirrors sometimes that gives better speed for downloading them better than torrent For example if you want fedora core go to the fedora page I you wnat ubuntu go to their and that way in every distro you want
This is a good place you can start

Has several direct links for a lot different Linux projects
Man and back to the topic of ISP after sometime of being on 56k like I was on a long time you realize sometimes 56k is more expensive because it's not only the money you pay the for rent that is not so cheaper compared to cable or DSL it's the damn calls you have to pay in your phone bill every time the ++++ing modem dials + diconnections every 3 hours and recall so sometimes it's the same price or more expensive and lot's less efficient and you call the 56k ISP provider and asks why so many disconnections and they always swear is not their service it's a problem with your modem or your computer but Hell nooo!!!!. You have the desire or at least I had the desire to tell hirm or her no!!!! its your damn internet service mother++++er

Try f2s ( www.f2s.com) great service no hassle, brilliant and personal support should you need it free of charge and with the added bonus of you can talk to someone from the UK. Cheap good all rounder with static ip......just check it out you wont be dissapointed.I'm fussy about isp's and avoid the big ones like AOL, BT,TISCALI etc for all the reasons you mention. One word of warning though don't expect free modem/router etc cus you wont get one(if you're like me you would already have your preferred one anyway instead of the isp locked crap the others give you with its dodgy software etc)
PS I don't work for freedom2surf I just think they're the dogs danglies for an isp.
