View Full Version : Recovering data from a damaged floppy disk

Hi I wanna restore and some data form a pretty old damaged floppy disk I have since 1994. I have tried like 5l programs I found on google but none of them wanna read the disk. Does anyone knows a good one that really works?

What programs have you already tried? That way, you don't get the same one(s) suggested ... ;)

Once when I was re-installing Windows XP, the floppy I had my SATA and RAID drivers on wasn't recognised. So I opened my computer and unplugged the drive and plugged it back in again. Needless to say, the disc was now readable, and the installation went fine.
You could also try a different floppy disc drive. You know, just in case ;)

Yeah, first be sure you are actually reading any floppys if you are doing this on Linux. Even if the drive is mounted it may not be reading right. I have had nothing but problems with Floppies and Linux. Short of that, look at it this way partner, your info hasnt seen the light of day in over a decade! Are you really going to lose any sleep over it?
