FEAR Patch 1.08 Problem

Hi All,

i have the english Retail Version of F.E.A.R and want to update from 1.0 to 1.08.
The patch installer keeps telling me that i need to have the english version of the game in order to install this patch

WTF ? .. i have the english version ..... even when i download the patch over the internal sierra dl manager it tells me that ??

i checked my registry if the game placed any entries there to identify the current veersion, but i didn´t find anything related to the game.

Could it be that my SpyBot blocked the registry updates from the game?

could anybody with the english game version please check his registry and tell me if there is any entry related to fear (best would be to send them to me straight away :-) )

Where did you obtain your game from?

It is the english version from USA or the UK? That might be the problem. Also you should chek the official FEAR forums

I don't own the game, so I can't check, but you can (I'm sure that there are entries) ...

Start > Run > "regedit"

Just make sure before you do ANYTHING in the registry you make a backup first ;)

Any win32 compatible application since win 95 with Windows2000/XP must have registry entries Only win 3.1, 3.11 or lower I think didn-t had

You need to make usre you have the EN-GB version of the patch if my understanding of what you mean by "UK import" is correct. My guess is that you have been trying to use the normal EN patch, which is why you are getting your error. If the EN-GB patch doesn't work, try the German patch, see if that works.

yes, from what i hear you need the engb patch, which is significantly smaller, anyway. i have the same problem, but with 26k dialup it will be 2 or 3 weeks before i can download it and play.
stupid! why cant people sell games that are finished?
