For those of you that are interested in Linux but are scared to install it, Ubuntu just released their latest incarnation: Edgy.

This is the latest and greatest from the free and opensource projects from around the globe. Grab the LiveCD if you don't want to install it but do want to test drive it. I've only tried the KDE (KUbuntu) version at the mo and I'm quite impressed.

I'll give Ubuntu (that's the Gnome interface as opposed to KDE) LiveCD of Edgy a spin later on in the week.

For the first time in Ubuntu's history I also give it a thumbs up. I too tried Kubuntu Edgy as I am a KDE user. I enjoyed it. I have it running in VMWare and while I'm not ready to leave FC for it, I will say it has taken the place of SuSE and that abortion of a package manager YAST as a tied second alongside MEPIS as my alternative recomendation for anyone wanting to try Linux. As for myself, I would just as soon move to Gentoo if not for FC, but thats just me...

Gonna try it later. I have used fedora Core. Then tried Kubuntu Dapper. and some live CDs from other distrributions .i am not really a Gnome fan either.I like KDE more. but that just everyone preferences that is the good thing of Linux there are pently or options to choose If you don't like certain thing in one you can try anotheror even modify if you don't like it . The problem with my computer is my damn small hd is only 40 GB So tends to get full very faster. I need save some money to buy a new one more bigger and put several different operating systems on it t. That is what I would really like to do

Another thing with Linux is that is pretty stable. I have alot of downloaedpackages of th erepositories. A lot of icons in my Desktop. 1.5 Gb of free space. A lot of game 3 downloas and some applications opens and the perfomance don't seems to decrease. You don't need to restart everytime you install something except when change the xorg settings. When I used to have my computer in this way in my XP used to get pretty slow

I'm downlading this right now. Gonna install it later when I backup all my personal crap. The North America mirror works fine 59 Kbps. The others are a slow for me

EDIT Reached to 245 Mb and stopped for the lack of HD space :angryfire

I hate this piece of ++++ hardrive
