Ok so dont tell me off by telling me i didint search the forum.... cuz I DID!
Hear me out

i need to run hl2 with out steam but theres so many files out there that claim to make it work, ive tried about 6-7 none of them work.
and then i get on this forum and start searching but theres like threads with 200-300 posts, its gona take me for ever to look throught that. and even i did look trought some of it. and theres ppl posting files that either have been deleted or dont exist any more.

Please if someone can give me a TUTORIAL and the necessary files to make Half Life 2 work with out steam, it would be so greatly apreciated.
Ive already spent about 3-4 hrs trying to make it work with no luck!

i bought the game a long time ago when it first came out, i played it for a while with my account then just stopped playing.
Now i want to play again but i dont remember my user name or password that i used for steam
but the problem is, with the email adress associated to the account, its not an email i use, in fact havent used it since i created the account. so i dont remember the password for that either.
and i cant retreive the password for the email account because i filled out the form fast fast and just put in a bogus birth date, zip code, country, name.....etc.... so when i try to retreive the password i have to fill out a form for which i have no awnsers.

I have a legal copy of hl2!!!! i dont want to do anything illegal. i purchased the game, but i made a stupid mistake now thats keeping me from playing.

so basicly the only way to get this copy of hl2 to work is to go trought Steam. I would have to send them things trought the mail and it takes about 6 weeks....

i dont want to wait 6 weeks for a new cd key.....
i hope you can help me out to make the game work without steam!!!

Then contact Valve, and ask them explain the situsation. That way you won't be doing "anything illegal" ;)

i have a feeling you guys dont believe me.....:S
As i said, valve takes 6 weeks if not more to fix the problem, with a steamless patch it can be fixed in 10 min...

if some one dsnt believe me, ill send you a pic with all the cds and cd key and everything....
i simply dont want to waste my time contacting valve, its just toooo long of a process!!!!!

cant any one just help me out....????

In my experience with them, they've been prompt and complete with both instances in which I required some help. I think you've been misinformed ;)

Running HL2 without Steam is perfectly legal, why do you thning we have a few threads on it here?

I don't know how to do it myself, but it would seem you want the quick and easy method, that always isn't the case.

I would either ask Valve or PM a few people who are still active in the threads you aparently searched through, and ask them where your going wrong, at least one of those 6-7 methods must work.
