Hellooo http://s3.images.proboards.com/grin.gif I suppose I'm new here. Haven't really posted much. Anyway I need some help with something.

If you download the right files or rip a PS2 disc, or OWN a PS2 disc, apparently you can play it on the PC. Now, I have several Crash Bandicoot games for PS1 that I've played on the PC via Virtual Game Station, so I know that this is true.

Anyway, I downloaded a ripped copy of Crash Twinsanity so that I could play it my PS2 emulator, PCSX2. Now, I know NOTHING about PS2 emulators or the files needed (so I kind of need help here >_>)

Apparently if I have all the right files, I can write them onto a disc, stick the disc in the drive and use the emulator to play the game. But the PCSX2 emulator won't play it. It says that something called bio\ is missing...? http://s3.images.proboards.com/huh.gif

What do I do? Sorry if I sound dumb but I have no idea about PS2 emulators and stuff.

Ok, first off welcome ladydaisy11 to MGF! :)

ATM there is no fully working PS2 emulator, PCSX2 is making the best progress but only a select few games work, and not very well TBH.

If you still feel you want to experiment, you will need a Bios file, there should be a Bios folder in the directory of PCSX2, where it needs to be saved.

If you search for certain words in a certain search engine you will easily find a PS2 Bios file.

Finally, you must realise its illegal to download ripped PS2 games if you don't own them, and MGF will not help you with getting them to work or tell you where you can find them, if you downloaded them illegally. :)

Apart from the obvious PCSX2 is basically configured the same as EPSXE. :p

No aparently its still illegal even if you own a PS2, but as long as we don't tell her or link her to it, everything should be hunky-dory. :p

I think if you use your own BIOS from your OWN PS2 that's ok. But I'm not too sure about that either.

Thanks for all the help. That helped explain a lot of things. I found the bios files now - and yeah I know it's illegal. I don't really care. :D

@Random pcsx2 has had a major boost lately with the speeds (some plugin was updated, i forget off hand what its called), however one needs dual core cpu system, pretty much only a top of the range pc right now will play the games that it can at decent frames (45-60).

Compatability and bringing down the recommended specs seems to be their next steps from what i make out on ngemu and their official website.

@Ladydaisey11 welcome and hope you enjoy your stay at mgf :)

secondly try as you may no ps2 game will run well on a pc at this moment in time, you need a really high spec tower to run the few games pcsx2 can actually run. otherwise your sitting on no more than 5 frames per second basically.

Yeah I saw it on the main site yesterday, last time I was messing with PCSX2, I was getting a slideshow just on the dash screen, on a AMD Athlon 64 3700+! :)

and yeah I know it's illegal. I don't really care. :D

Hehe, I don't think many members on here would either, as long as its not discussed on MGF, its fine. ;)
