Sorry if this isnt considered an emergency lol but here goes:

A friend gave me his pc, the modem wouldnt work for him at times and other times it would, i felt as if there were something wrong with it like some malware on it, i scanned with the usual spybot and ad-aware and came up with nothing, he never updates his AV so i would be sure something is wrong (Av- AVG). My intention was to format and reinstall all or most of his software, his choice what.

Anyway I went and backed up everything he wanted backed up like my docuemnts and game save files. I then went to overclock it a small bit, increasing the FSB by 10Mhz, its a Duron processor btw but im unsure what its rated at as with CPU-Z it said unknown processor....WTH?!?!?!?

Anyway after i buggered it up i reset the CMOS by removingthe battery for about half an hour and that worked fine, i booted up and got the message "Keyboard error or no keyboard present" which is BS cause i connected them back up after resettng the CMOS thing.

It says press del to go to the BIOS and F1 to continue bootingm i tried both and the keyboard in the BIOS works fine but as i head to windows no lights work and im unable to move the mouse whatsoever.

Anybody able to help me???

PS ive tried the keyboard on my comp here on it but no change and i dont have a USB keyboard nor a PS/2 to USB dongle

Download and burn any live LInux CD (I've always used Knoppix, but the Ubuntu install disc now moonlights as a live CD also) and see if the keyboard works in that. I think it is probably an issue with a Windows driver ...

Cant try that till later cause of ISP.

Anyway I can get into windows now no problem but the mouse refuses to work at all!!!

I took my mouse from this pc here over to it and it lights up suggesting power is going to it but i was still unable to move the cursor. Another thing when i hook up any keyboard the numlock lights flash the once but i still cant get them going...

Ive took the pc apart, starting off with just the hdd attached and worked my way up to everything was back where it belonged, the only beeping i got was when i took out the RAM...I guess the mobo is done for but im not sure, i dont see anytihng physically wrong with id.

I was thinking about updating the BIOS but its something ive never done on another's pc before, mine was easy to update as software on the mobo CD enabled me to do it through windows. The BIOS is the original one, 1.0.

The mobo is a K7SEM Revision 1.0, the processor as on startup screen is an AMD Duron 1Ghz

Anybody know what the hell could be causing the problem?

@IDP i will try your method as soon as I am able to download it.
