About patches for games

Hey I want to know something about patches...Games have patches released all the time as newer versions. Like for example TOmb raider legend has 2 patches v1.1 and v1.2... do i need to install v1.1 before i install v1.2? does it make any kind of difference at all?

It depends on the game
some instances you nede to go to 1.1 then to 1.2 then to 1.3 etc
Others you buy, install and update to the latest patch immediatley, as for tomb raider im unsure, but someone here will be able to help you.
