FEAR Combat problem - probable punk buster issue

I downloaded FEAR Combat today, installed it, ran it and everything was going fine without any problems. I entered the server browser and tried to enter one of the servers. I got a message that it requires to enable punk buster. I went to the client settings and enabled PB... that's when the game crashed. I got a classic windows error message (FEAR encountered a problem and it will be closed bla bla bla). I think it has to be a pb error.

That's how the error signature looks:

AppName: fearmp.exe AppVer: 1.7.278.0 ModName: pbcl.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0004750d

Check out the underlined part - it relates to punk buster. Does anyone know how to fix this ?

Yea i wasnt sure what it was, free addon or full game so i asked instead of assuming it was warez...

There is no newer version of pb for fear combat :/ Guess I will have to wait :( :( :(

Have you allowed the game through your firewall?

Try downloading it all again from a different server, you may have had some corruption in the first place :)

That can't be the case. The game install was just one exe file so if there was any corruption the game wouldn't install from that archive. I've also allowed the game in firewall. I reinstalled it and now i can play on every server as long as it doesn't involve enabling the punk buster.

Ok, I found the solution on the VU Game Community forums. The problem lays within one of the latest security patches for windows. Running the game in Win2000 compability fixes the problem.

let me tell you i got punkbuster 3.0 .fear or fear combat isnt in the list. perseus mandate is though .doesnt help me very much.so it looks like no more pb for fear.anyone know out there
