Are you using your original game disc or a no-cd fix? Does your computer meet "recommended" system requirements?

im using the no cd fix and i have recomended specs for the game
the further into the game the lagg gets worse
could the no cd exe be the problem should i try a mini image
i would use the cd but theres a problem with my drive only some games work in it or it gives me redundency errors

Try reinstalling from your original game disc (after making a backup of your save game, of course) and see if the issue is still there (maybe there's something messed up in the installation)

Id say graphics card, its crap to be honest cause i had one...Upgrade it...Get a nVidia 6600 or an ATI 9800/X series
Using a nocd fix may cause the lag, use original disc

Maybe the game is faulty, you could try bringing it back to the retailer, of course providing you have a proof of purchase

Update windows
Update your drivers
Then try uninstalling, rebooting, clearing temp files then reinstalling.

Maybe the game more intense graphically as the game goes on, and your computer can't handle it.

Where did you get the game from?
Cause i find that stupid that a game doesnt have a graphics settings somewhere...#
And believe me a 5200 cannot play hl2 on high detail with decent frame rates, maybe you limit it to 30fps but it wont go much higher...
