Install the 32-bit ... the 64-bit has trouble with network/sound card drivers ;)

Well, at least she can access the Internet ... my friend could do basically nothing with his Vista 64-bit installation (no sound, Internet)
There is a support forum for the Vista Beta, so have a look at that. Also, if she wants to try the 64-bit, I have a CD-key that I can install on up to 8 more computers that I can give you ... just send me a PM, bud ;)

Windows XP Nemesis is what I regard as the equivelent of Linux Suse, i've used it its pretty good actaully, its basically a fully updated version of XP Pro with some nice added extras.
Like Dip said it is a HaXXoR version, so it is more on the illegal side of things (bloody laws).
As for Vista, Jesus Christ its horrible! I'm using it at work and its support for Domains is terrible! Its way to complicated to change a user, driver support wasn't too bad and I do get the occasional lock-up, it doesn't support any of the programs I use at work, even in compatability mode.
Also some stuff is completely different and will take some getting used to be apart from that its OK.

Maybe the domain issues are a beta problem, from my use of Vista 64-bit I havent had any huge problems, other than the occassional lock-up.
If you want a hacked version of windows, your best bet would be to make your own customized version. You can add You add your own drivers, your own changed files (uxtheme.dll etc.), your own themes, your own tweaks, your own extra software. Heck, you can even set it so it automatically enters your [legal] serial number.
I made a custom XP x64 disc using a guide on pcstats.

Thats really up to you. IF you want Vista wait for it like everyone else. I think the Beta program has stopped now, but Im sure someone will give you one of their 10 installations.

Most likely nothing, but it probably will be backdoored and have a bunch of tojans, you wont get any help/support from Microsoft, no Windows Updates and all the sofware included with it will be illegal (unless its freeware), and you'll likely have a bunch of spyware too.

Any version of XP other than the official ones are HACKED versions. Its best to stay away from them, and if you want a custom version of XP, or one thats different or unique to you, make it yourself. If you want the link to where you can make one yourself, Ive got it bookmarked somewhere, just ask.

Lol! Doesn't the word 'Pirate' say it all? :D
Half of what you said about Nemesis is true, all off the addictional software is hacked like Nero etc.
There are no trojans on it as it comes with NOD32, and its even equipped with anti-spyware software, like I said I downloaded the 3.0 version, and its pretty nice.
Obviously M$ don't support it, TBH its just a 'convienient' version of Windows XP where you don't have to install any programs or updates. :)

The idea of a convienient copy of Windows is great. Like I said, I made one from my own copy. So now I dont have to 'press F6' to install SATA/RAID drivers, I dont have to install Office or Nero, MSN Messenger has replaced Windows Messenger, I have a better text editor, and all my developement tools for Uni are all installed automatically.
The only issue I've found is that I have to burn a new 'updated' DVD every few months, otherwise its not very'convienient' ;)
