Anybody know here if firewall uses more bytes or not in controlling the inflow?
I personally use zone alarm but one of my friends told me that firewall filters the incoming flow and therefore uses more bytes than.
Like there is a ad-blocking and cookie control feature in zone alarm. I keep both of them high. Does it take bytes in filtering ads and cookies and also does it affect the loading of webpages in speed?
I also find my webpages loading a bit slowly. I use firefox.
Bytes are very precious to me as I don't have an unlimited internet package.

if you want to monitor your useage i suggest a program called DU Meter. i untill 4am today was limited like u and so i had to monitor what i used, i got my unlimited package this morning up and running lol.
I am going to still use DU meter to see how much difference it really maes when im limited or not. I know this doesnt help you so much but if you want the program PM me

A firewall will slow down your connection (just because it needs to check everything out for you), but it's not very noticeable ... that's the price you pay to keep yourself protected, though ;)

That causes a lot of errors on web pages ... you're best bet would be to keep ZA and use a free AV like AVG or Avast

I use avast but its not compatable with zone alarm.
Also I saw many a times that avast is not recognised by any other software as antivirus(including zone alarm).
And thanx fdjc4 for ur help in du meter. It worked.

I have installed norton systemworks 2005 with zone alarm.
In my security center, in firewall it shows following.

What should I do?

Norton System Works must come with Norton Internet Security and must be conflicting with Zone Alarm . You must disable one of them

so what firewall have you running apart from the windows one?
zone alarm ye?
well i advise turning off the windows one, i personally think its crap, tho i do think its better having it than having no firewall...

step one get rid of northon becuase it is the worst software i have ever used.
replace it with AVG free and zonealarm. using a firewall wont make you download any extra data from the internet.

bbeenn what your saying is your own opinion...
It may not be what mammu wants, some think AVG is crap, i dont but some do..so its the sae with norton and ur opinions towards it.
I think norton is great, not perfect but i aint about to go and fork out for another firewall or change for that matter as it works perfect for me...

I now uninstalled zone alarm and now its showing norton internet worm protection is on. But my webpage is now loading pretty fast after I uninstalled zone alarm.

In zone alarm in antivirus section, AVG and Avast is not recognised by it and has conflict it. Even though we install these antivirus, zone alarm can't find it and says to install one.
