Windows Vista Beta 2 is available for download:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/preview.mspx
I've got it dual-booted with XP Pro, and I like it a lot. It comes with it's own bootloader, so you just need to have an extra hard drive or partition to get yourself up and running ...

Sorry DIP, I tried, but I am now so fed up with MS's crap I dont even want to bother anymore. I followed your link, selected US and download. Then it wanted me to sign in with an old hotmail account I havent used in years. As I forgot the password I tried to register for a Windows live ID number another way. It wouldnt let me. After a hour screwing around with that I finally gave up and racked my brain trying to remember any possible passwords I would have used. I finally came up with the right password and it let me proceed. Cool. Not cool. After registering with MS and giving them my current email they promptly sent the confermation and I clicked that link. Page wont open, it sits there stalled out trying to load. I take a coffee break, come back, still trying to load. So I refresh, nothing. I start over, same thing. I start over again. After about the eighth time it finally loads and gived me my Vista product key and cjoice of downloads. Cool! Not cool. The first five hundred times I hit the 64 bit link it comes up with the "sorry, due to high demand...please try later..." Not being the patient sort I am hitting the link every second. I finally get the download, load 13MB and it tells me done! Huh? WTF? OK try it again...same thing over and over. I get between 4KB and 26MB and it finishes the 4GB download. Screw this, I hate MS. I would have liked to check out Vista, but it's not worth my health! MS can bite me. At least Linux provides bittorrent iso downloads.
p.s. maybe I'll try again later, after I've cooled off, using the XP computer, IE and try the link with the Takimorawonglee jap file manager they want to supply you. MS apparently doesnt like me using Firefox and the Kget file manager. Surpised their "Linux alert" button didnt go off and they didnt jam me...

LOL sorry bud. Yeah, the beta got released to non-MSDN subscribers yesterday, so it's been on the high demand thing for quite a while. It took me about 2 hrs of off-and-on refreshing to get a ticket to download. Anyway, I hope you're able to try it out, because it's pretty sweet. It took me about an hour to install (well, outside of the BS I got from GRUB), so it's not that bad. I'd actually use the download manager they provide you with, because it's like BitTorrent, in that it opens up multiple connections, only there's no upload ;)

I am supposed to be getting 1MB/sec with my satellite conection. Hughes.net pings me at 850 kbs, but in actuall pratice on long downloads I generally settle in at around 150kbs actual on good mirrors. Not too shabby though, miles above dial up.

UPDATE: Each registered user can install it on up to 10 PCs legally. So if any of your friends have a faster connection, download there, and you can then use one image to cover 9 of your buddies' and your own computers ;)

Cool that means I can test it at work propperly! :D
Edit: It'll give me a good idea of how it'll run on a Domain and what this "enhanced" security will be like. ;)
