I was wondering if there is a current no-CD fix available for the current v1.61 of Civ IV. I was playing it fine off my dvd before I downloaded the latest patch and now it's playing up on me a little. I figured there must be an easier way to load the game without using the DVD every time.
I've read over a lot of the posts and I was just after the simplest solution to my problem.
Any help would be much appreciated

The only solution people have recomended is the maxi image that eat lots of space like a normal image. I havent tried this method yet since I'm short of hd space. Man i really need to buy a new harddrive

Thanks for all the help guys. I know what to do now, the problem is that both alcohol and daemon tools both come up with the error message "unable to mount image file - file not accessible" It's a mystery to me.

Strange. I didn't use sd4hider and yet the maxi-image worked fine. :(
I also managed to create an excellent copy with alcohol. I also have that image on my hhd. Works perfect. But of course, it is a copy after my original DVD...So, if you have the original dvd(and I assume you do) you can create a image(what the heck, it takes the same amount of space like the mini-maxi-image) and use that one. The luxury of 2X160gb HDD :D.

If you look carefully you will see mini image for v1.0. For god sake, you can't miss it. It's the only file called mini-image. You can't give a direct link, as on gameburnworld and gamecopyworld, the links are updated constant and you end up with a lot of people whinning that the link is broken. But people are lazy and they don't use forum search or check the big three gamecrack sites before asking anything...:(

1. Install the game
2. Mount this Image with Alcohol 120%
3. Rename This Key and following in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\Scsi
Or use Antiblaxx / SD4hide or anything else
4. Run the game and have fun

Neah. You just use the wrong version of daemon tools. Use daemon tools 4.03. No hiders need it. Tested, working since the beginning. And no editing too. Just use the latest daemon tools. And when you want to add something just use the edit button...And you can update alcohol too:D

It wants you to go into the registry (Start > Run > "regedit") and modify that current directory. I think it's a way to hide the drives, but I'm not sure. If you're going to edit the registry, making a backup is something in which I can't stress enough, as you can severely compromise your system if you don't know what you're doing. If you're not really sure what you're doing, best off not doing anything at all ...
