Have you removed all traces of Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger?

You can remove Windows Messenger in Add/Remove Programs where it says Add/Remove Windows Components.

What you could do just in case your lady friend ever wants to use Windows Messenger, is remove the program from startup, to do this click Start > Run > type msconfig > click the Startup tab > then untick something that says msnmsg or something like that and finally click OK. ;)

yeah done all that dude.
there is another thing you can do. you can type in
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
in the run command that completely gets rid of windows messenger

Have you gone into the registry and deleted it from the Uninstall folder?

lol you all forgot the most simple emthod i found >.<

open windows messenger and go to tools then options (i think, not 100%) and then look around this menu until you find two options..
"Start windows messenger with windows"
and something like..
"Start windows messenger whan i connect to the internet"

uncheck both these and ur grand, works for me 100% no more crap windows messenger at all :)

I posted instructions how to get rid of sims2 from the registry here (http://www.mgforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=306226&postcount=4), just modify what you're looking for ...

OK, if your sure all traces of messenger are removed, I think we can safely assume that the passport message isn't messenger related.

Look for other programs that use the passport, i'm not sure what they are, but I know there are some, i'll find a list and post it here. ;)

system restore was the only way to solve it and it gets worst. on all the dates there was no change to the system just a system restore point. stupid thing.
