can you get a avi film onto a vidio tape

HI guys
Is It possible to transfer an avi file burnt onto a disc put into a dvd recorder onto a vcr tape if both recorders are hooked up?
I think it may be possible to transfer the vcr tape to the dvd recorder onto disc but can it be reversed?
IF so how do you do It?

i supose it also depends if the dvd player can play avi files

i would try to plug you vcr in to the tvout of you graphics card. most come with thie feature these days and do it that way.
