So now we know its going to be in 6 versions dose anyone know what the prices will be?
The vitrual PC thing the biz ones have are neat but they would lack 9X 3D support for games so it wont help me that much when runing older games.....

Thought this would be the best palce on the forums to post ^^

Not so,

VISTA is supposed to be a modular OS wherein you will only buy an OS
that supports the apps that you desire. It's not suprising that a business
version of V wouldn't run D9x games. Personally I'd be suprised if it ran
anything more complicated than a puzzle or minesweeper.
It's for BUSINESS not many employers would want an OS
that would run games for obvious reasons.

There will be a tweaked version for gaming; of course it will be the top tier
of the pricing bracket-but it will run your PC as smooth as a pre OSX Mac.

Curiously MS is developing a replacent OS called Vantage or something like that.
Not to worry, the PC's that it's being designed for don't exist yet:
quadruple and octuple multi cored beasties running 4GHz memory bus speeds.
I doubt any current PC OS will run on those coming beasties.

Agreed. Microsoft makes good business desicions, I give them that, most people hate Microsoft because most people hate Microsoft, as simple as that. Give as many reasons as you'd like, it's just the current trend.

Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, will have everything in it, including all the business stuff. No idea how much it'll cost though.

Doesn't its min requirement include 512 mb ram?
Not every one owns systems like that. I dont think it'll sell much.

Not sure on requirements, I doubt 512 will be minimum, I think 256 will be minimum.

Windows will always sell, it always does.

indeed
only dew to compatabilty (which at certain times is questionable...) and the abundance of software that supports it over all the other OS's

Windows will always sell, it always does.I wouldn't be surprised if a gig were minimum in the near future. Who doesn't have at least a gig? Times are changing, fast, keep up. If you're into computers, you're going to have to spend money, it's that simple.
