final fantasy the dark cloud help

I can't seem to get back threw the mountain pass to get to the boat. It seems that you can only go one way threw the mountain pass. Please help me get back threw it so I can continue the game. If I can't get back threw the mountain pass is there another way?

I am on the last boss(dark cloud). But he never die!! Why, and how much HP have him? I have hit him over 30 min. And use sleep so he never hit me, but he never die!!! So plz help me
