if uve had your xbox for a considerablw period of time, they may not change it. instead they advise you to send it off to microsoft for a replacement dvd drive. and from what i hear, it aint cheap :(
but you never know, they may change it for ya

well x-cal theres kind of a way around it. If you never registered your xbox when you bought it you can go to www.xbox.com and register it now, make sure you put a purchase date w/in 90 days of the day you go to register. Call up the xbox 800 # and tell them the problem. They will ship you out a box, throw your xbox in it, and send it back, they pay for all the shipping charges. They'll take a look at it and either fix it or give you a new xbox, seeing you just registered it so it looks like you just bought it. They dont ask for a reciept, at least they didnt when i had a prob with my box. if you have it chipped, i wouldnt bother sending it to M$. but if not do what I said and youll have a spankin new xbox or at least it will be fixed.

Yeah only to the place where you bought it, usually 30 days. But if you dont have your reciept and its been over 30 days they usually wont exchange an open xbox. So if its been over 30 days its always best to send it to M$ as they give you a 90 day warranty.
