Nero and DVD odd sizes

every now and then nero and other programs wont to limit a DVD to 22 or 70 MB not the full 4GB is this a glitch a bug a virus or what? about the only way I have ever fixed it was by reinstalling windows.

Could we please have a few more details.

Nero version.
DVD writer.
windows 98/me/2000/xp(sp1 or 2)/2003
DVD media used

Ok
I have 2 DVD writers a LG frist generation SUper Multi -R +R -RW +RW 4X/2Xrw

and a "upgraded" lite on DVDRW 832S it was a genrinc one untill I got the frimware fix for it but I ahve noticed that nero 6 had that error befor I upgraded it.

the media was 3 or 4 brands it was not the media more like the software was fudged up sicne when I reinstalled windows everythign worked fine 0-o
(media I use fugi -r,ritoche -RW,ESA, +r,ect,ect)


I am gettign some nero valadation errors on 8X media

Firstly I would try updating nero - can be done via the nero website.

Secondly try burning at a slower speed - 4x maybe.

well the limted DVD size (once it was 22MB and once it was 70MB) is when I check a DVD or try and burn it it said the size was wrong I tried useing Alcohol 120% and Ultra ISO and all had the same problem it was odd 0-o
had to reinstall XP it fixed it as I said I ahve ran across this thign 2 or 3 times and just wondering what in the world cuased it.
