ive got this movie on cd, its on avi format so it wont play on my dvd player (not the one in my pc, home one). however it plays vcds, i can use nero to change the data to vcd data, but, the file is now over 900 megs, from 600 megs when it was in avi format, my question is how do i rip the file in 2 so i can put the data onto 2 cds. thank you. my other question is when i encode the data from avi to vcd data(is it called mpg) why does this process take nearly 20 hours to change, is there any other software out there that does this proceedure quicker than nero.
thnx

Forget nero for converting,it aint a real encoder.
First get Tmpgenc, and load the avi into it.Next select the pal or ntsc vcd template(depending of the fps of the avi.
Now goto settings > advanced the goto source range. Here u select how long u want the movie to be.Lets say the movie is 90 mins long u could get 80 mins on one cd and 10 on the other but thats really wasting a cd for 10 mins,so i would say u do 45 mins on each disc.So now u have the source range set and you've clicked ok.Now hit start.
Once its encoded go back to source range and set the range for disc two.
Select the output as u dont want the same file name as the first disc then hit start wait for that to finish then u will have to mpg files.
The use nero to compile the vcds.
