Can't Install NFS:Most Wanted!!

Hello,

I have recently purchased the new Need For Speed: Most Wanted for PC.
When I insert the first Disc, I press Install and then the installation asks for a CD-Key. Then, I input my CD-KEY and proceed with the installation.
It asks me whether I agree to the TOS. I press YES.
After this, the installation says I need DirectX version 9.0c or higher, and when I press OK, the installation quits.
The problem is, I already have DirectX 9.0c! Plus, I even installed it 2 or 3 times, and the installation still asks for DirectX 9.0c or higher.

What should I do?

pc does meet the requirments to play the game and other games work grand?


also try going to start then run and type "dxdiag.exe"
thats directx's diagonostic tool, if you got any probs in directx it may find them for ya.

My pc status: 3.00 Ghz
512 MB RAM
80 GB HD
GeForce 5700 FX

I think these are more than enpugh for this game...

By the way, I did type dxdiag.exe and it said no problems have been found...

What should I do?

i had this problem on a friends pc, he was on win me, i reinstalled win me for him and updated direct x, it worked then but that is too much to do id say if your like me.
i have this problem also, it says i got the latest version but infact i got 9.0b according to everest and to dxdiag but as no games i have requires 9.0c i have no major problem, i tihnk your best option is to uninstall directx and reinstall it but thats not something i know how to do, sorry.

the bottom of the page is relevant. but if ur gonna try anything use make a system restore point first!!!

Anyway, I'm surprised most wanted worked on win 2000 compat, I mean like? Stupid computer.
