Starforce has been nailed at least up to 3.5.10.6, as that's what I've tested with currently :D (SF Keyless on X3: Reunion)

I think d-tools 4 is pretty crappy for how long it was in development ..almost all blacklists are still in place , fear 1.02 , splinter cell ct , tm sunrise ask you to put the dvd into another drive (you need to still unplug ide drives for starforce)
and it does come with spyware (some search toolbar) but its unselectable on install

today, we release the new V4.00.

As we already heard from our customers, it fixes indeed
most or even all blacklists - however, it is STILL a SCSI-Emulator,
therefore it's still necessary to remove present IDE-Drives!

As nearly all protections now block ALL SCSI-Drives, no matter
if REAL or VIRTUAL, you need to DISABLE your ide-drives!
This version is more or less only a "next step", it does NOT
contain an IDE-Jammer atm. However, we are working on it and
will hopefully have it ready soon. So be warned - do NOT complain
about the "lack" of the IDE-Jammer-Device. We release it now,
as is. It fullfilles its job as long as no IDE is present in
System or you otherwise block that IDE-nodes. After all it's
STILL free!

Another important change is the integration of ADWARE.
Yes, we need that revenues. However, we decided to let
YOU choose to run it with ADWARE and support us - or simple
turn it OFF in installation-process and run it same way
as former versions - without ADWARE. By default, it is turned
ON - to not install that ADWARE, please UNCHECK at installation
"DAEMON TOOLS SEARCHBAR" (or you can remove it anytime later when
you wish via "Control Panel"-> "Add/Remove programs")

We leave that decision to you, so please don't blame us that we did
it that way. It was a compromise to continue the free support -
we would much appreciate it if you install that ADWARE-stuff. We set-
up a special forum so please post in THAT forum only about questions,
concerns or anything else that is related to that ADWARE. The forum's
name is "DAEMON Tools Searchbar".

To sum it up:
- NO IDE-Jammer atm - we are working on it! No ETA for it - it's done
when it's done!
- ADWARE INCLUDED - you can, however, UNCHECK that ADWARE at installation!

The changelog for V4:

- complete redesign from scratch

- support of 4 virtual drives

- ONLY X32-supported now. X64 will follow

- Drivername randomly generated on each machine (not finished yet)

- Drive-vendor and versionnumber randomly generated

- Complete new emulation architecture

- DCP (DaemonCodeProtect) to make analyses harder and increase development time for malicious anti-DT tools

- Digital signature verification of applications who are trusted to access DT in secure mode

- AutoInsertNotification fully implemented (can be turned on/off at ControlPanel)

- Dropped: MS-Installer, DT now use modificated NullsoftInstaller

- Dropped: analog sound support (as Windows 2000 and above do not need this feature)

- supports all popular copyprotections

Again: This version is an "in between" step to fix latest issues not only
with protections but also many other issues and installation-problems.
We work hard to release soon next update!

hey, could anyone please confirm that you can mount splinter cell chaos theory image to daemon tools 4.00 and it works? obviously with unplugging the IDE also. :) i really hope they busted starforce crappy protection!

from what i understand if you unplug your ide cd/dvd rom drives you can play fear from daemon 4 (since fear blacklist scsi devices real or virtual it will only use scsi as a last resort (if no other drives are available))

starforce nightmare might work by disabling the cdroms but i havent tried or had the means to try it

Okay guys when ever i try to start up daemon tools i get an initialization error, it says the following.
Initialization error.
This program requires atleast windows 2000 with SPTD 1.21 or higher
Kerned debugger must be deactivated.
Now i have windows xp, with all the updates. I have no idea weather I have a kernel debugger, unless it's a feature of windows. In that case can nayone tell me how to deactivate it. In any case the previous version of deamon tools worked fine.
I would ask this on their forums but their site is down now.

SPTD is the new driver for Daemon Tools 4, it should be installed with Daemon Tools 4. Did you say no when it asked you to install the new driver?

You can get all starforce games to work with DT4 no problem, by just mounting the image WITHOUT unplugging drives or using tools, but if you have or had Alcohol 120 installed your buggered. There is something in Alcohol that breaks DT4 from working with starforce without pulling all your drives out and adopting tools. And even after uninstaling Alcohol it still wont work, seems Alcohol leaves something on your computer that starforce dont like.

So if you want DT4 to work with starforce games then don't ever install Alcohol.

Well iam still dissapointed.

Thought there would be a better way to disable those IDE-Drives with Deamon-tools, instead of using an other program or the physically-unplug-methode.

I also thought there would be a better GUI as dt hasn't even a gui or at least a new icon.
For the first look, for me, there isn't anything new on v.4 only more compatible at all.

But, iam happy that they are officially working on starforce :D

I did restart.

But the thing is when it finished installing you get asked if it wants you to run daemon tool if i did that the first time my pc would restart. And then after that it would give me that error. Plus daemon tools could not be uninstalled. It said the installation had not been validated. SO what I treid, is reinstalling it, and then not having the box run daemon tools checked. then I finished the install, and thne I ran daemontools. But my pc restarted again, only now my pc restarted every 10 seconds after logging on to windows. So after thirty times starting over trying to press ctr-alt-delete I managed to shut down daemontools before it restarted my cp again. And I did that and then made sure that it would not start itself when I log on to windows by going to msconfig and setting it.

But the good thing is that it finally installed, even if it did not work. So i could uninstall it.
But I also tried reinstalling daemontools 3.47 which also for some reson will not install properly anymore. It just wont, at first it installed but when I treid to start it it said something that it did not have the right language or so. but there was no unistall option so i just removed it from the install directory by deleting the folder, but now I can't reinstall version 3.47 cause it's says that a driver is conflicting.

So I pretty much screwed it up good.
Now can anyone tell how i can unistall daemontools completly, every last single bit. Cause just deleting the folder doesn't uninstall the drivers. Is there a program or a way to do it manually. If anyone knows I would be very gratefull for your advice.

To get FEAR 1.02 working, if you have Alcohol installed, hide it with sr7stop. Mount FEAR in Daemon, run game, it will tell you to move the dvd to your real optical drive. In Disk Management, remove the Drive Letter from your real optical drive (the drive will no longer be visible in My Computer) and run the game again. The game will now run!

To get FEAR 1.02 working, if u have Alcohol installed, hide it with sr7stop. Mount FEAR in Daemon, run game, it will either run or tell you to move the dvd to the drive letter of your real optical drive. If you get this message, in Disk Management, remove the Drive Letter from your real optical drive, and give that letter to the virtual drive. Remount game, then run it. Game will now run (well, it did for me...).



As i have SATA HD´s - i just disabled the primary/secondary IDE Ports in my AWARD Bios, rebooted and mounted FEAR (1.02) without emulations enabled in DT 4, it works like a charme. Funny thing is, that also Starforce 3 games like X3, Trackmania work without a single error.

YES!, I can confirm DT4 works no problems with starforce WITHOUT unplugging drives or using tools, I copyied X3 using Alcohol then downloaded the MDF, then swapped the MDF with the one I had, pointed DT4 at the image and booted first time no problems. But it wont work on the machine I copied X3 on using Alcohol. Seems something Alcohol leaves on your drive stops starforce from being fooled. But yes DT4 smashes starforce without any added tools (confirmed).

Well I found that I'm not the only one. They have have announced themselfes that there is a seriouse bug and are pulling it and rereleasing it later.

ppl I am playing path of neo with dt 4 without problems (in combination con sr7stopr.exe) but the thing is that I have to config the game every time I leave, I mean, the first time I selected the language, then config controls, graphics, etc. I played about 3 hours, then I quit. 2 hours after I played again, but oh surprise I had to re select language and re configure controls (only keyboard controls, graphics works fine) Someone with the same problem ??

i also cannot any dam game to work with out unplugging ide drives, how stupid, but may i note i also have alcohol installed so there must be an issue with this, ahhhhh, come on guys, i DNT want to unplug my ide drives, and i dnt want to format pc to get rid of alcohol, + i like it.

Ok, i got some games working by pulling the ide cable, kong works for example, but the likes of X3 and Civ4 both still say please insert cd.

ps, i have mounted the images, but still no luck. Civ4 would work if i could hide DT4, which i used to using virtual-hide-cd which worked great, but it dosnt work with DT4, so i am stuck there. X3 just will not work full stop. Both games when mounted, still searching for cd/dvd.

To play civ4 i only had to hide IDE per Starforce Nightmare (disable node wasn't necessary).
