I too got the game delivered early. And my Football Manager 2005 disk got scratched to hell! (Mind you, I did take it halfway around the world with me and my laptop). But I don't want to have to worry about carrying the cd everywhere this time...

It would be nice to get a no cd crack for it, but I can't find one yet either (surprising since the hackers have probably been at the game solid since getting their hands on it).

But I know that you don't recommend illegal things, and I found a torrent site that you can download the full game, and just mount it with Daemon tools and you don't need your original.. though I highly recommend the patch too! I hate it when companies bring out games sooo heavily bugged.

Sadly yes, it is badly bugged. And I really feel sorry for the poor kids who have to shell out so much money for a game they eagerly anticipate. It's alright for me sitting here with my 2.2MB DSL line, but when you scrape your last 25 quid together and buy the game and either have no line or a 56k modem, a 92MB patch download can seem like a real kick in the guts.

It isn't as slow as FM2005, though I have to say it would have taken some miracle to be THAT slow. But don't get me wrong.. if you didn't play FM2005, then you would think this is the slowest thing you ever played in your life.

The game is still playable. Somehow SI games manage to keep me captivated enough to keep buying the games. I think it's more religion now rather than excitement though haha

Think I might be constantly searching for the Holy Grail of the ChampMan/Football Man series. They still haven't re-captured the splendour of their early days for me. Simple, fast and very very addictive. Now it's complicated, slow and addictive! haha. I like all the new things (half time talks etc...) but I fear that we are paying the price of these in slow playing time....

Anyone remember Football Director on the C64 or Atari ST? Remember how it used to calculate all the results and take about 10 minutes to do it and we used to whinge? Think that time is coming again... :turn:

I am seriously hoping a NO CD crack might do atleast something to speed up the process! I know I hope in vain, but that's all i have left!:cries:

EDIT: Also, there is a no-cd crack out there but it doesnt work, always asks for the original disc, looks like I am sticking to using the disc to load it a little while longer.

The easy way to do this is when you have installed the game and patched it right click on the main fm2006 icon and goto propertys click on compatibility and change it to run this program in Windows NT 4,0 MODE for some reason this gets round the protection and lets you play without the need for a nocd crack :D

this is providing you are an XP user not sure about windows 98 or me.

This does work if you don´t patch the game but after you have patched the game it doesn´t. Then it´s just coming up put in the correct CD. Please give us a crack now.. but problaby it´s just to change back to the old EXE file but still have the other new updates left.. that´s at least what i´m gonna try.

i have anti-blaxx installed,
i changed the compatibility to NT but my game wont work.
I backed up the CD as it wasnt even spinning properly when i double clicked 2run the game. I burned a new cd wiv the files and it spins full speed, but tells me its the wrong CD-ROM.

What can i do, anyone got a crack/patch to let me play ?

i found a no CD crack, when i used it and loaded the game, it said it was Beta version 6.0b6
I then applied the update
and it replaced the fm.exe file, i recopied the no CD crack and loaded the game and it said beta version 6.0b6, so im not sure wiv this crack i found that u can apply the update as it takes away ur no CD crack. mayb others know better than me

the no-cd patch is basicly the Demo exe. DONT USE IT. Will bug your game.

Make an image from the ORIGINAL CD (With alcohol, mdf) mount with daemon tools.

Set compatibility mode for the shortcut (or the exe itself) to nt service pack 5.

Run the game.

Mini images dont work as its safedisc 4.6

Oh and the patch is the OFFICAL 6.1 patch from footballmanager.net. 96mb

This system should work with both patched and unpatched football manager 2006.

Im not sure.. There was only one crack for 2005 and it never updated as the game updated.

I dont think its popular engough to get a crack atm.

My CD wont spin, It would let me use nero or alcohol to copy it, as it gets an error. I copied the files off it just normally and it let me, i then burned them onto a CD. Installed the game, and get insert correct CD.

I followed ur instructions.
Using the CD i managed to make, created an imagine. then installed Daemon.
and followed these instructions

Mounting an image:

Right-click on the DAEMON Tools trayicon
Select Virtual CD/DVD-ROM
Select Device [?:]
Click Mount
Browse and select the image you wish to mount
Click OK or double-click on the file to mount

I then double clicked my fm shortcut and it still asked for the correct cd as it fired up my CD Drive too. ????

I have an unexpected and weird issue with the windows nt 4.0 method to play FM2006.

Yes it works.. It absolutely works, the finder of this method deserves credit for that.. Congrats..

However, my game gives low memory warning around about 5-10 minutes and eventually exits with low memory error.. I watched the RAM amount while the game was running, it was consuming a normal amount around (170 megs maybe, I'm not sure). But after some time it started falling dramatically and I was given an error when it was around 8 megs. I know 8 megs can not handle FM06 at all. But nothing exceptional did I through that duration. I just played my game, continued for several turns etc. Nothing different.

My sistem is virus-free, I'm sure.. Also GameJack 5 says that it can handle FM's protection, so I add it to Game Starter. I click it and nothing happens. There is FM.exe in the memory but nothing is out there..

Any of you have similar problems or something ? Maybe solutions or recommendations please ?

there are a bizzilion guides for making images with alcohol search google.

you tryed the new 6.1 patch it fixes alot of bugs and possibly your memory problem try it out.

If the game does nothing but the proccess is running this usually means its hanging on trying to authenticate the CD. On my machine when this happens after a couple of minutes FM will come up with a (SEND / DONT SEND to microsoft error)
I havent used gamejack ill check the trial out now

Think you should read above! There is another guy quoting to have broken his CD also! Do you know how tricky it is to break a CD? You should give it a go... it ain't easy!

Now... the NT thing does work, but I found that it has only worked for those who purchased the game and installed it nicely from the original...

How do I know this? Because I installed from the original on my pc (which is cool) and i installed the downloaded one on my laptop (since I want to be able to play on that too without carrying the disk) only to find it would not work on my laptop but would on the PC (without CD!). Both run the same system with similar specs...

I would say that your problem is... you lied! You don't have the original!

What I suggest is this.. take your "pretend" original CD and try it on your mates computer, if it works, then it's your pc thats not good enough, and if it doesn't... take the "pretend" original CD back to the store you supposedly purchased it and get a replacement or your money back...

Strange. But I got this also. Was a lot more than 5-10 mins for me though. More like about 1 or 2 hours, and then next time about 20 mins. Not played it since because too busy. But I do concur that this is unusual. It's a pain for me since my nephew is playing on my pc, and I want to play on my laptop with it! grrrr.. I ain't buying another copy for that though! And NO I ain't even gonna play a multi player game with him. He farts around with everything and he takes ages looking at players he cant even afford to buy! haha:flackwhor

Right click your FM'06 shortcut, go to Properties, add this at the end of the field where it says Target : -small_screen , out of the ditto marks.

Click OK, run the game, go to Preferences, remove the tick of Full Screen

the image, you can download at megagames is working on my computer with daemon tools.
you only have to activate the safedisk emulation.

For all who don't understand, what I mean:

-start daemon tools
-right click on icon at the bottom
-click on emulation>safedisk
-mount image
-start the game
