I have been having troubles trying to shrink a few dvds and at the max compression that dvd shrink will allow its about 70mbs over that can fit on a 4.7gb dvdr, I do not want to buy the dual layer as they are way too expensive, and Ive tried doing overburn in nero without success. Is there another way or another prog that has better compression? I also only want a FULL disc backup not bits wich can be done in dvd shrink also.
why can you only fit about 4.5gb data on a 4.7gb dvd?? sounds suss to me!
what can I do?

i use DVD shrink and i ahvent had this problem, with videos anyway, if its data maybe its different? Oo
I use 4.7gb dvd's as well but i think the extra 200mb is for something to do with (in video burning) dvd decoding or something to that effect...no idea to be honest but that seems a strange problem that you cant fit yous backup on

well I dont have problems with 99% of them, its just 2 bonus material DVDs wich theres more data or larger amounts thats the prob, there both video dvds just slightly larger than what dvd shrink can backup for burning, I can shrink it but I get a warning message saying that I might unable to burn this, wich I cant.
any suggestions???

When you look at the dvd (original) - try removing the foreign language files and/or subtitles.
This should enable the dvd to fit.

Supposedly because the .2GB have been used for UDF formatting, but it seems to be defined by the differentiation of the storage size.

Why don't you try overburning with Nero ?
I've seen someone try to overburn a DVD but all they got were errors towards the end of the DVD and hence punching out a coaster!

see orginal post.
its is very risky and you also get warnings that it could ruin you drd burner.
anyway Ive solved the prob, firstly I shrinked it, them I shrinked the already shrinked directory, it worked but the quality was not great. but it dont matter to me. as its a bonus extras dvd
