Best photo editing, wallpaper software

Im after software that will let me create my own wallpapers using phots .jpegs ect, Ive been using a old ulead photoimpact 4 se that was free on a cd and want to use something better with more features prefably free.


what is the best software that lets you do this, also adds special effect croping merging images etc. and can create wallpapers at the highest resolution?

Adobe Photoshop costs about $100 and works fairly well.

Adobe Photoshop is a quality program, so is Bryce, you can use a number of programs, just Google it ;)

Adobe Photoshop if you are willing to pay and want an advanced program that can do it all.

Yeah photoshop is a great program, that is what I use for all my photoediting and i've created some pretty nice sigs with it

i use the gimp... because it's OS and pretty cool, i am still a newb with it but has created some nice pics with that to...
