Ive got a Nvidia Geforce 4 MX(64mb) and an ATI Morpheus RX9200(128MB). After finding the ATI would have problems with ALOT of games, i decided to install the geforce.

I install it fine, then when the reboot option comes up to finish installation i click ok, the system reboots up till the point XP gives the welcome screen(right before the desktop appears) and then the monitor goes into standby mode. The PC still runs, but the monitor just goes into standby mode.

Start in safe mode, and set the graphics resolution to 640X480. Then reboot.

The resolution is set to something the GF cant handle.

1024x768? Ive used the Geforce before for around 4 months at higher res' than 1024x768 and it worked fine.

EDIT:Heres the manafacturers page, as you can see the stated resolution is MUCH higher than what it is set at.

PS:Just to note, usually when i set the monitor to something higher than it can handle i get an out of range error. I dont get that here, just a screen on standby.

Did you fully remove the ati drivers prior to installing the new card - the drivers may be conflicting...

I have hardly had any problems using my ATI 9700 pro with any games i have played.

And why would you want to use an inferior graphics card to play games with?

Don't know where you heard that but it's just not true.
There have been a few minor hitches with the odd game but they were sorted out within days, if not hours, of release.
Doom 3 had some trouble and it took about 3 days for a new driver to come onto the ATI website that fixed the problem. The next Catalyst update had Doom 3 running better on ATI cards than on Nvidia.
That's just one example but there were a few more with early DirectX 9 games.
Sounds to me like you've been reading Nvidia pro mo's!

It's most likely the problem is related to conflict of drivers. I recomend u COMPLETELY wipe out ati drivers using "driver cleaner" or something similar...

For ATI use: "CATUninstaller"

For Nvidia use: "NVidia Detonator/Display drivers" from the Windows’s Add/Remove programs option in the Control Panel.
After that, use Detonator.RIP to completely remove them ;)

Seems to be a conflict between the drivers.. Remove all ATI drivers b4 installing the latest forceware for your Geforce

The GeForce 4 MX is the one which will have problems with alot of games due to its lack of pixel shader 2.
