ok heres the problem I set up a celron 950 for my mom about 3 months ago formatted the drives installed windows 2000 etc... but recently in like the last 3 weeks or so it has been starting to freeze up about 5 minutes after you log on to the desk top and since theres no reset button on the thing for some reason you have to pull the plug on it to restart the comp. I have scaned for adaware, spy ware and found nothing I have tried scaning for virus's but the comp locks up after about 5 minutes in to it. I was looking at the past test results for the virus scaner and it says that the partition table(MBR)and the boot sector on the c drive has changed?? how could they have changed? I thought maybe it was the logitech keyboard I gave her with the celron cause its got alot xtra keys on it and the number lock like's to come on alot and it will freeze up the comp but it's still doing it with other key boards. any ways I need to figure out how to stop the comp from locking up like that she use's the celron for work at home and it's really starting to piss me off. so if any one has any ideas i'm all ears. do you guys think just reinstalling windows will help? or maybe the hard drives are going out or something? also the video theres actually 2 video cards in it cause the on board one is messed up and leaves wierd lines on the monitor so I took one from a p133mhz comp i had and put it in there in case that could have any thing to with it. the comp is a celron 950mhz 194 mb ram on board sound latest drivers latest directx dunno about the video card as it was the on board card for the pentium 133 i know old as dirt :) please let me know of any solutions asap.
no I havent tried flashing the bios but will try and let you guys know if it helps any i am gona try and reinstall windows again but dont think it will help I think eCKO was right that its dieng cause it has gotten even worse since i posted the original thread now the screen is starting to flicker and stuff I think I will most likely have to set her up with one of my old pentium 2's or something untill I can get a better one for her.
