Hey Guys,

Ok, so I have a legit CD Key for Generals Zero Hour. I don't like my cd drives, so I would rather not use them. We all know that in order to play Generals online without a CD, you have to use a fixed image. So I got one of the fixed images online, and it seemed to be working fine. This was, until about 10-30 seconds after I joined any game (Skirmish Solo, Multiplayer Online) Every Unit I had would just self-destruct and I would lose. It was almost like I was surrendering. I am running Zero Hour 1.04. The game only does this when I use the fixed Image.

My System Specs:

Processor: AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton Core
Motherboard: ASUS A7N8X with newest BIOS flash
RAM: 1 GB PNY Dual Channel DDR400
Video: Sapphire ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
Sound: Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
Hard Drive 1: 40 GB Western Digital With Windows XP Pro on it
Hard Drive 2: 200 GB Extra Storage (has Generals installed on it)
Thermaltake 450W Power Supply

Case is cooled by two 120 mm fans sucking out on the side, and a 80mm CPU Fan / heat sink (Thermaltake). Power Supply Has two 80mm fans on a potentiometer.

Any help would be appreciated, I didnt see a fixed image online for the US 1.04 version of Zero Hour and I would rather not take up another 700MB to store an image of the entire disk.

That's the copy protection. I just use a no-cd crack with a legit CD key, I don't need the CD inserted when I play, and all works fine

That happened to me when I used an illegitmate cd key on ZH, when I purchased the full thing it stopped, and I also used the cracked exe.

I wasn't aware that you can use a cracked exe to play zero hour 1.04...when I tried it it gave me incorrect version errors. My units only self destruct when I use the mini-image...it doesnt do it when I use a cracked exe, but when I use the cracked exe I cant join multiplayer games cause it says incorrect version. The only way it works is if i pop in my original cd, which is annoying cause my cd drive is really loud and old and gets a lot of read errors. I guess im just gonna have to either find another mini image that works or use another cd drive to rip the entire damn cd. If someone could point me towards a cracked exe that works online and doesnt give me different version errors, it would be appreciated.

Would I be right in assuming you crack the game fully by replacing the files:
game.dat
WordBuilder.exe
generals.exe

If you do you only need to replace generals.exe and leave the other two files alone, this means that you can play Online normally but you can't play single player without using the cracked versions of the other files. Thats how I have my ZH cracked at the merment. ;)

No thats not the problem i have the exact same issue it occurs with any copy that you purchase...what i do when that happens is try for a reinstall....dont install it again...just click the repair icon in the installation process and insert the first cd and it does the rest.....just so that you dont lose your scores...and you should be fine...try it and let me know if it works ;)
