Hey,

My C: drive is getting pretty full with all the programs running on it. But i've devided my drive into 2 partitions C: and D: on the D: drive there's still a lot of room so i'm thinking of getting some free space from there and put it on the C: drive or joining both together into one. Because i bought a 120Gb HDD to free up some space for media content i don't really need the D: drive that much. Except for faster convertion of movie files, instead of over a USB port.

Thanks for any help.

You could move your swap file on to the D: drive, this'll help quite a bit. Also, create d:\temp and then set your TEMP and TMP environment to push files to that instead.

Another thing, you may want to wander through your profile and have a clean out. It's amazing how useless Windows is at keeping your temp and internet cache under control.

You cant repartiotion windows without formatting, but you canc ompress the c: drive. What i dont understand is if compressing saves disk space and doesn't harm the system, why not have it from the start?

Lucifer, if you compress your data, every time a file gets accessed it has to be decompressed. This is additional load on the CPU and slows everything down. Compress files which get used occasionally by all means, but never compress a whole volume where the OS is installed!
