Hi guys,
I have the following system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
K8N Neo Motherboard
512mb DDR 3500 ram
geforce fx 5700 256mb video card
200gb 7200rpm western digital drive
Windows 2000 (have tried xp, same thing)
But when I run games such as The Sims 2 and Guild Wars I am getting slower framerates than my brother, who has the following machine:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
512mb DDR 2100 ram
ATI Radeon 9500 128mb
80gb 7200rpm western digital
Windows XP
What gives? Could it be something in the drivers? My brother uses onboard sound, while I use an M-Audio Audiophile Delta 24/96 (which is a very high-end card I need for my mixing purposes) and even when I disable sound completely framerates are very slow at times - with the sims 2, the game just hangs there often...
And I should point out that in both of these games I am running at VERY low specs (lowest graphics, very low resolutions such as 800x600) - my brother runs at 1280x1024 and gets better framerates than me.
Does anybody have some ideas?
Thanks in advance!
-Andrew
