hi,
im looking some software that i can monitor my CPU temps and so on, i recently downloaded the freeware version of everest and its great just for monitoring the temps in my pc, however i want to be able to increrase fan speed and so on if necessary.

weekly i run scans and i did last night, i came down this morning and installed everest, it says my CPU (AMD Athlone 2200XP) is at 60 degrees, for my liking thats a little bit hot, my HD and mobo are running at approx 30-40 degrees. this is after a few scans tho i dont know just for normal use however i do spend a lot of time gaming and such.
is there any way i can increase my current fan speed from now which is about 2200RPM to maybe 2500RPM, like maybe permanent or even temporary?

would that eevn be a good idea, makeing the fan go faster than it should?

Also i now have an AIW ATI 9800 and was wondering is there any program that i can monitor what temp THATS running at?

all in all im looking a program i can monitor and if necessary increase fan speed to cool my pc down, i hear anything around 70 degrees is NOT good and 60 for me is too close to 70.

Hey fdjc4,
There are loads of programs that con monitor the temperature of your PC (do a google search), I don't think that its possible to increase the speed of your CPU fan, although if your that concearned about the temperature, I would recommend investing in a couple of system fans, I have a AMD Athlon 1400+ XP and when its idle the temp is around 55C and when working it stays around 60C.

I don't think you should worry too much about the temperature of your CPU as 50C to 60C is about normal for AMD processors.

If your really worried about it then you could even go a step further and invest in water cooling.

I don't know if there are any progams that can monitor the temperature of your GFX card, some GFX card have heat sensors others don't, I think if it did everest would pick it up.

Maybe your mobo just doesnt support CPU monitoring.
Most BIOSes have a feature now that turn off the PC if the CPU gets to a dangerously high level.

most boards shutdown @ 85° CPU temp.

monitoring software is

Crystal CPU ID, CPUMSR, CPUcool

here is the newest everest (non official beta)

I'd cheak bios then software. some bio settings will let you "scan" your system. I'm using a program from Asus that monitors temps continuosly. I keep my Athlon at 30-40 degrees. Cheak the direction that your fans are blowing. Heat rises, so always put your intake fans low on the case. A blowhole (top mounted fan) will really help with case temps. As far as the processor, liquid cooling or phase cooling is the best.
