Halo - Invalid CD Key joining any server

I have the retail version and a valid CD key that I have not given out to anyone. I have been playing just fine for months, but when I tried playing today I get the "CD Key Invalid" message on ANY server that I try to join. I'm still getting over 600 servers in my list, but can't join any of them. Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Could be someone used a keygen of some sort and took your key. You may have to contact Microsoft and get a new one.

Seems your key is acting up...I would contact Microsoft about this, and see if they can issue you a new key. This happens sometimes, and is not completly out of the ordinary. They may require you send them proof of purchase though.

Sadly, sometimes this also costs you money. I've heard anywhere from it being the postage to the full game price.

Well that really sucks. If someone actually had my key, wouldn't it only give me the invalid key error if I tried to join the same game, not EVERY game I tried to join? I would think with the firewall I have that no one would be able to steal my key.

If someone has a keygen, they could simply use that to generate the same key you have. Then, when it tries to authenticate it sees that two people have the same key and blocks all users using that key. I'm not sure if that's the way Halo works, but I know some do do that.

This is really strange, I tried to play again last night before I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it worked fine. Go figgure.

That happened to me once before with Medal of Honor. Don't try to understand it. Just be happy that it worked. :)
