What do you think about starforce?
All my games are legal, so I don't really care. Sure, it's a little annoying, but if you want a crack bad enough, you'll do it yourself.

Well I personally hate it, but aslong it doesn't harm my computer I can't blame the game developers for trying to protect themselves.

Wish I could say the same.. the starforce driver conflicted with my 3ware raid drivers and messed up my raid 5 array ..lost everything ...had to pay 3k for data recovery.
I however don't blame the game companies ..but I really think this is way overdoing it..at least other CD protections were non invasive. we also should be entitled to backup our software and have less wear on our expensive hardware and have security that the game might work in the future.
I really cant believe they would release anything to the public with this protection in it.. I had actually returned the game to the store because of what it did.
After working a long day at work I get home and want to relax buy-install-play thats all I would like in a game.
not
buy-install-reboot-2 hours looking at memory dumps and logs what happened to my raid array - 3 hours talking to ubi's support - 2 hours talking to starforce support - 30+ min going back to local store - 30 minutes arguing with store manager to return the game-rest of the week in bad mood finding out i can't sue anyone for damages-end result out 3k for supporting a company i had trusted and been with since the start.
I for one will never!!!!! buy a game if it uses starforce I don't care how good or fun the game is they will not get one cent from me.
I urge others to do the same ..but most are kids and don't understand the concept of letting the companies know what they don't like.
I'm trying to do my part, and maybe in some small way the game companys will head the other way and stop using this horrible protection in upcoming games.

Ok in that case I'm against it. If starforce can causet hat kind of seriouse damage then it should be removed and made illegal.

You are very right. But why can't you sue them? Your RAID array is gone! They should do something to compensate you!
Software companies and their little protections...

in the eula (electronic users license agreement) it says the game is "as-is" and they cannot be held responsible for any damages or loss of data for using the product.
most games can do whatever they want to your pc ..

If something out there is made to hinder us at all, someone will break it. When will the companies realize this and stop putting apps in computers to protect their software that can potentialy alienate the ones they want from buying the games...

No no not at all, I don't know much but I do know that a lot of stuff that the EULA says is agiants the law, and that a court will declare it illegal. Just google it and you'll see for yourself.
