ok i think my windows installer is broken i have SP2 with the version 3
i cant get it to work and i NEED it to apply updates for Office 2000 WHICH wont update either as it says wrong data1.msi file, it doesnt match my cd, i dont know where the originals is but i lent one of my mates in hope to get the updates.
anyway i think i need a new installer and is there anyway around needing the damn CD??
im more worried about the installer than anything right now
please help!!

I THINK i have the installer fixed now, but how can i install MS office 2000 updates WITHOUT the proper CD??

it keeps asking for data1.msi
i tried google and they had some work around but that was for the US version, plz help :(

Not sure you might have to do some more searching on google. I can't find anything (i'm not even sure if i'm looking for the right thing).

lol im using google but to no avail at the moment
damn data1.msi is my problem, its not being found :(

i could do that but i tihnk i may have to register HIS cd key then, i dont want to do that illegal rubbish, anyway his version from what i have learned through google is not premium, which is what i ahve, he has professional
your idea seems good shambles but i think we have different versions

Windows Installer 3.1 has been released! Get it on Windows Update if you have XP sp2

Glad to be helpful to you!

BTW You need to have the CD in the drive before updating Office

erm YEAH i know thats my PROBLEM!!!!

lol cant infd discs that whwere used for installation!

is there any work around im asking?
i saw a US patch but it does not work for my UK version of the software.
