LOTR-Battle for ME severe installation issue

Straight to the problem : While installing LOTR-Battle, at 64% it displays this message: "A problem occured when trying to transfer the file D:\support\sv\lasmig.txt ||Retry or Cancel installation ?" Pushing Retry has no effect. The game DVD is the original and its surface is clean. Any ideas or did I waste my money ? I run WinXP Pro, all hardware ablolutely compatible.

Try and copy the dvd to your hdd and install from there.

Or try and rename the text file, if it's any Ä in it.

Obviously the disc is bad. Return it to the supplier.
