I run a 1.6GHz laptop and I use Firefox. I frequently visit IGN, okay I check at 9 promptly each night waiting for updates to occur. Anyways, I have a real problem with the flash ads on the site. They really tax my system, scrolling slows down until it's off of the screen and very slow response until the ad is fully downloaded and moving. Is there any solutions to not download the ads or at least not show them?
I've tried using a flash ad blocker plugin for Firefox but all it seems to do is mask the ad so I can't see it, it's actually still running beneath it. So the computer runs just as slow as without the flash ad blocker. Any suggestions are welcomed.

;) Ok i have no idea if these all will help you but anyway...
Spywareblaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)
Thats like a spyware firewall, hence the stuff doesnt get on your pc
Spybot search and destroy (http://spybot.safer-networking.de/en/index.html)
This has a tea timer enabeling you browser pages to be locked, also has an immune feature, and can remove spyware
MS BETA anti spyware (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx)
OK no joke...this is the best damn thing from Microsoft in a while...its a beta but its damn good, it gives you a warning that spyware is trying to install, has a good scanning engine and a good quarntine feature
Ad-aware 6.0 (http://www.lavasoft.com/)
This is a VERY good piece of software, if purchased it has a spyware firewall and as a freeware product the scaning and what it finds is second to MS beta as far as i know (not much but i have some experience with damn spyware)
anyway man GL with all that and hope i didnt waste 30 mins typeing this all...
I think spywareblaster may be your best bet in blocking flash ads, there is an option for it, disabeling ALL flash i think tho...
