My PS2

Sony Playstation 2 PS2 upgraded mod BONUS
Has got new laser installed with 3 months warranty.
Upgraded to play all types of games and movies.
used PS2

My games are Burnout 3. (unsure if it is NTSC or PAL)It took about 6 restarts to get working a few times (after a few plays) and now it doe snot play at all. My other back-ups work fine. It only takes pressing reset once or twice. It is dead now.

Second game NBA Live 2005. (NTSC) It is starting to do the same (taking six hits of the restart button to play) that game is dying aswell. Seemingly dying.

These two games have been played a few times now. While other games which have been played alot (like Ratchet & Clank 3) are still kicking. They are on the same discs. Well R&C & NBA are. And Xenosaga II (back-up NTSC ). So I have a lot of NTSC games aswell as PAL games. Working fine. Except for B3 and NBA. I nought them all at the market in Februaray.

Well I will put up more about the DVD-R details later on.

But yeah what the hell is going on? Can they be fixed? They are doomed or what?

Can I just use Nero to make back-ups of these back-ups? (B3, NBA) Are my DVD-Rs failing? they might be cheap DVD-Rs. I really have no reason. That is why I am asking :)
Backups that work fine; and that are from the same brand DVD-Rs are Tiger Woods 2005 NTSC; Madden 2005 NTSC; NHL Hitz Pro 2005; Pro Evo 4 PAL. Crisis Zone, Time Crisis (newish), Mortal Kombat D NTSC. THUG 2 PAL.

I have played alot of Crisis Zone, TC (newish one), NHL Hitz.

Will I need to follow the relevant Nero tutorial extracting; burning to DVD-R
for B3 and NBA? If it is in fact the DVD-Rs fault. I am not hip as to whether it is the DVD-Rs fault or my modded old PS2.

I will keep you informed. Yeah I am all in the dark on this one.

Yes it is old, used but "Has got new laser installed"

And it plays the other games straight away. games that are also back-ups like R&C, Time Crisis etc.

But it won't read normal DVD movies I think anymore.

Burnout 3 and NBA Jam. well all of them are on cheap discs. I will get back to you soon on what brand they are.

Burnout 3 is still a no-go. All other games work fine. MGS3 etc. all other NTSC games. I can't remember now but Burnout 3 may of been PAL.

The PS2 was a PAL console.

I don't know the DVD-R brand right this second.

No your laser may not be dying ! ! It needs to be recalibrated ! Take it to a techy (make sure they know what theyre doing) and have them re-calibrate the laser ! This a very precise tuning process ! !
