Have you tried running other games on his system? Looking at the specs of your friends system is perfectly capable of playing those games. It could be something to do with Windows XP Compatibility, try this :

1. Right click on the icon of the game and click properties.
2. Click on the compatibility tab.
3. Click the box saying "Run this program in compatibility mode for:".
4. Select Windows 98 / Windows Me
5. Click on OK and then try running the game.

If this doesn't work, then try looking for patches for the games.

I've just realised that a 16Bit Error message means that your desktop bit rate is too high. If what i've suggested doesn't work then do this

1. Randomly right click on the desktop and click on Properties
2. Click the "Settings" tab.
3. Change "Colour quaility" from Highest (32 Bit) to Medium (16 Bit).
4. Then click on OK and then try running the game.
